You may have spent a few evenings with Jersey Shore’s Pauly D. already — at least via your television screen. But if you’re in the Rhode Island area, now you (and a friend!) have a chance at dinner with him live and in person, and it benefits St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, which fights childhood cancer.
“[St. Jude does] such tremendous things for so many lives,” Pauly D. told Tonic. “It’s incredible to be a part of this in any capacity.” He added that if he could change one thing in the world, he would cure cancer: “So many lives are affected daily from this.”
Pauly D. offers more than a sense of humor and unique hairstyle (though, with a laugh, he acknowledged that the latter is “always a conversation topic.”) In the past year, the popular DJ has also worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and DoSomething.org to make life better for those in need.
He also doesn’t mind proving himself to people. “It’s what drives me,” he said. “At first people thought I was just a reality star, and soon they learned I have been a DJ since I was 16. There is nothing like playing for a crowd of skeptics at first, and in the end having them cheer for you and want to hear more. Make it all worth it.”
What’s one way Pauly D. makes the world a better place?
“I try to always be happy,” he said. “Happiness is really infectious. If you smile at someone, changes are almost all of the time, they will smile back.”
We got to see that smile when we asked him about his idea of a perfect date.
“Go to dinner and a movie,” he answered. “Can’t go wrong with a classic like this.”
The date will be auctioned off at the Rhode Island Chapter for St. Jude’s annual gala, “Cookin’ for Kids,” on Thursday, October 20, at Metro Honda in Johnston Rhode Island. The event will include local restaurant tastings, a car raffle, and the live auction.
